My mom got this recipe from a friend over 40 years ago and we have made it in our family ever since! People are always asking me how to make these tasty sandwiches!

Ingredients

  • 1 pack / 8 onion rolls

  • 16 slices ham

  • 12 slices Swiss cheese

  • 6 tbsp yellow mustard

  • 6 tbsp dried minced onion

  • 1-1/2 sticks butter (12 tbsp.)

  • dash accent (optional)

  • dash black pepper

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 350°f.
  • Melt butter, minced onion, mustard, accent, and black pepper in a sauce pan.
  • Spoon / spread the butter mixture on both insides of the onion rolls.
  • Place 2 pieces of folded ham on each bottom rolls, top with 1 and 1/2 slices of cheese, and add the top roll.
  • Wrap each sandwich in foil and place sandwiches on a cookie sheet.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes.
  • Let stand a few minutes, enjoy!

Notes

  • I use 4 tbsp yellow + 2 tbsp honey mustard.
  • If ham is thinly sliced, use 3-4 pieces. Generally 1-1/2 to 2 lbs worth of ham.
  • When spreading the butter mixture, use sparingly at first to make sure you have enough, then go back and fill it in.
